Need some legal help pertaining to Fake ID's?
It shall be an affirmative defense to the manufacturing, selling, or distributing of identification documents that contain false, fictitious, or altered information that the person manufacturing, selling, or distributing the documents used due diligence to ascertain the truth of the information contained in the identification document.
Would this allow someone to manufacture and sell fake ID's as long as they used due diligence...? Also, what would someone have to do for this to be a viable defense? How much investigation would you have to go into to make sure that the info is indeed truthful?

Basically what that means is that the person manufacturing, selling, or distributing the ID verified that the information matches the true information of the person carrying it, therefore vouching for it's validity. The problem with that is, no matter how you slice it, if the person were to produce evidence, like for example, having the person being sold the ID fill out a form stating the info on the ID and signing it as true, he is still liable because he did not verify the information. what the evidence does is add a new charge of perjury. DO NOT DO IT.
