Does the BMW e46 compact have the automatic mirror curb parking function?

Right I have a 2004 BMW e46 compact (UK) and I’ve been looking on the internet and I think my car should have this function. http://www.e38.org/B090398_Att2_CKMSet.PDF (page 5)

For those that have no idea what I am on about the function is when you select reverse gear the passenger-side exterior mirror should tilt down allowing you to see the curb when parallel parking.

1) Does anyone know if the compact haves this function?
2) If it does, does anyone know why my does not seem to work?

Hi Dan,

I will try and keep this as simple as I can. Yes, your car can have this function. I say "can" because despite what that document says this function can be turned off by means of encoding the vehicle.

Does the n/s mirror adjust normally via the switch during normal adjustment ?
If you have the "side / left-right" selection switch set to the passenger side this function will not work. It has to be set to drivers side.

If you are happy that you are then to be honest there are only two other likely causes.
1 - It has not been encoded on your vehicle (BMW dealer, about 30 mins labour)
2 - It could well be the n/s mirror motor (I have seen them adjust but not dip previously)
