Would coming back to the Original Gospel about "light" bring Christianity more in line with Philosophy?
The online Book "Gospel Enigma" is about the Original Kingdom Gospel. It clearly demonstrates the distinction between the popular Pauline Gospel about sacrifice, and the Original Gospel Jesus preached about the light of God. (probably the inner light)
Would getting back to this Original Kingdom Gospel bring Christianity more in line with Philosophy?

I clicked the link and read the first couple chapters, decided to bookmark it. Kept reading another three, decided to save the whole book on my computer, and will read the rest at first opportunity.
An eye-opener, thank you, I find myself in agreement with everything being said so far and, interestingly, I suspect the author came to these conclusions by way of a different road than I did. Must read the other 19 chapters, though, to see where this is leading.
When I was about 12, I asked our pastor why Jesus cried out "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" I don't remember his reply but I got the very distinct impression he did not know. Gradually I found myself separating from mainstream Christianity in search for the answer.
The sky fell dark at Jesus' death and the Temple curtain covering the Holy of Holies was ripped apart. If the Crucifixion were God's will, I wondered, why was Jesus not rejoicing instead of lamenting? It can't be because Jesus was experiencing a moment of weakness, as I've heard it explained -- Steven the first martyr went down under the stones with praise on his lips and no sign of a moment of weakness. The same is true of countless Christians who died under persecution, never crying out why God had forsaken them -- surely Jesus was not weaker than these people who willingly followed his course.
I can understand God's being forced to allow the Crucifixion due to the people's lack of faith at the time: Jesus wanted to embrace all of Jerusalem as a hen gathers its chicks under its wing hoping to spare them the destruction he knew would come as a result of their rejection of him. But if it were God's original will that Jesus should die for us, I can't see why the Bible would say that Satan entered into Judas. Had Judas been doing God's will, would he have thrown back the 30 pieces of silver and committed suicide? Doesn't make sense.
I have never understood the rationale for a concept that God would put Jesus on earth for the purpose to be murdered -- if so, why prepare a special God-believing and -serving nation for 2,000 years when Jesus could have been sacrificed even more quickly and surely at the hands of a tribe of barbarians!
To preach the Gospel, yes, and teach us how to live. As a second course, in case the people would reject him, the Crucifixion would be understandable, that he resurrect and save us in a spiritual sense in preparation for a second coming. But Jesus first taught how to live on earth, simple stuff but the most powerful, before he ever began speaking of this sacrifice.
What if Jesus had been accepted? I see no reason why the Kingdom could not have been established then, "on earth as it is in heaven." Jesus could have been ushered to Rome with the humble yet rejoicing Jewish nation, joined by Orientals (who did have connections with Jews) and Egyptians, by people from Asia Minor, Greeks and Balkans -- all with his message of love and forgiveness. It would have been difficult for the Roman Senate and the emperor to ignore, and with Jesus' preaching we should render unto Caesar what is Caesar's there would have been little reason for Rome to reject the message. It could have opened the door to project Roman influence further eastward, and many other benefits from the Roman perspective -- not to mention the spiritual fulfillment of being at inner peace because we have received the Holy Spirit. Of course, it was different when a handful of disciples went to Rome after Jesus had already been killed -- they were a few marked followers of a criminal, not a whole race of people marching on Rome to give thanks to Caesar and the Roman citizenry for having constructed roads and sea communication all over the empire (all the more useful, of course, to have spread the Gospel to the known world) and established a system of law and order to make it safe to travel.
These concepts are more logical than mainstream Christianity, and I agree that it would embrace philosophical thought and create a unified new expression of truth.
