You have to smudge it into your lashes, use a Q-tip to do this. Don't use eyeshadow it will fade fast. Use a waterproof liner for best all day results.

cover girl is like the only concealer that actually doesnt show lines.

NYC has nice shade of green for eyeshadow.

The history of cosmetics and makeup goes back a few thousand years. Depending on what century one was born in cosmetics and makeup had different meanings for different people throughout each century. You should also know that cosmetics and makeup have different definitions. Here you will learn the difference.

Cosmetics are anything applied to the face or body in order to improve your appearance. Cosmetics include anything from cold cream, hand cream, eye cream, astringent, after-shave lotion, suntan lotion, talcum, bath powder, body paint, solid perfume, bath oil, bath gel, hair dye, hair bleach, mouthwash, nail polish remover, mustache wax, facial pack, mud pack, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, cream rinse, hair mousse, styling gel, hair spray, shaving soap, shaving cream, shaving foam, depilatory, deodorant, antiperspirant and the usual facial makeup.

Makeup is a branch of cosmetics that has to do with beautifying of the face. So, eyebrow pencil, mascara, eye shadow, eye liner, rouge, blusher, toner, lip slicker, face slicker, lipstick, lip rouge, lip liner, lip gloss, powder base, moisturizer, foundation, loose powder, pressed powder, bronzer and pancake makeup comprise a small part of cosmetics.

The first evidence of cosmetics usage is found in ancient Egypt around 4000 BC. The Romans and Egyptian used cosmetics containing mercury and white lead. Ancient Egyptians had a wide extent of make-up tools. One of them is kohl, which was used to outline the eyes. Kohl is made up of lead, copper, burned almonds, soot, and other ingredients one of which may have been arsenic. It was believed that eye makeup could ward off evil spirits and improve the sight. Even the poor wore eye make-up in ancient Egypt.

Cosmetics were also used in Persia and what is today the Middle East. One of the earliest cosmetologists was the physician Abu a-Qasim al-Zahrawi, or Abulcasis (936-1013 AD), who wrote the 30-volume medical encyclopedia Al-Tasrif. A chapter of the 19th volume was dedicated to cosmetics. Al-Zahrawi considered cosmetics a branch of medicine, which he called "Medicine of Beauty."

During the early years of the 20th century, makeup became fashionable in the United States and Europe. But the most influential new development of all was that of the movie industry in Hollywood. Among those who saw the opportunity for mass-marketing cosmetics were Max Factor, Sr., Elizabeth Arden, and Helena Rubinstein.

Flapper style era influenced the cosmetics of the 1920s, which embraced dark eyes, red lipstick, red nail polish, and the suntan, invented as a fashion statement by Coco Chanel. Previously, suntans had only been sported by agricultural workers, while fashionable women kept their skins as pale as possible. In the wake of Chanel's adoption of the suntan, dozens of new fake tan products were produced to help both men and women achieve the "sun-kissed" look. In Asia, skin whitening continued to represent the ideal of beauty, as it does to this day. During the 1960s and 1970s, many women in the western world influenced by feminism decided to go without any cosmetics. Cosmetics in the 1970s were divided into a "natural look" for day and a more sexualized image for evening.

Cosmetics and makeup in ancient times stood for symbolism of the class of your family. Throughout the years, men and women have used makeup for different reasons. As of today, cosmetics and makeup is used or not used by people who want to make a statement one way or the other.

How to apply eyeliner?

I am gonna start wearing eyeliner, but how do I apply it? I have the pencil, I don't know if this makes a difference byt it is the bonnebell eye definer in slate.
How do I apply a pencil eye liner? Thanks peoples! =D

wear it on you top lid (lash line)

a lot of people wear it on the bottom but your not really supposed to, its only young tweens or emo/scene people. if you do choose to put it on the botom lid above the bottom lashes to a very thin line and start at the outside corner and go in towards your tear drop but not all the way, go more than half way but stop when your darker lashes stop showing

not a lot. be very subtle and natural just so it brings out your eyes to make them look fabulous =)

Heres some tips on how to apply it to the top lid:

Hold you eyelid down and try to keep the eyelashes down but dont pull them out, just do it gently by holding the corner out and down, you lashes will just normally go down. when you do it, use your forth finger, its the weakest and wont cause wrinkles. and after a few times you can do it by just looking down or even up. =)

small strokes is the key, go from one side to the other, you can always apply more. wet the q tip or dip it in makeup remover if theres too much but whenever i used a q tip it just smears it so i just wipe it.

Dont draw on your eyelid. Draw on you eyelashes. TRUST ME just draw on your lashes where it seems & feels like its not on your lid but it really is.

When you open you eyes, there will you your beautiful eyeliner all perfect. People always make the mistake by drawing on there eyelid even those its close to the lash line it still ends up on the part of the lid where the eyeshadow goes

tomorrow try it. its a lot easier than it seems. you dont really have to worry about messing up because it will blend into your lashes. just dont go to far up on the lid. If you brush it in the actual lashes it really is on the lid.

use brown, plum, eggplant. it looks a lot better than black but go ahead and use black if you want to, it doesnt look horrible

i know its hard to understand what im saying because its hard to explain you just have to try it and practice alot

try to do what i said and tell me how it worked out

put a lot of mascara on. you dont need a lot of eyeliner, mascara makes everyones eyes pop and look really good!!

It depends on the ingredients in your remover. Most makeup removers have some kind of oil in them to break down the makeup on your skin. They're not meant to be left on your face. I would suggest using your remover first, and then washing your face. This will keep the remover from clogging your pores and causing breakouts.

Every woman has a pile (ok a drawer. ok maybe a closet) full of makeup that she rarely uses. Applying a particular color of eyeshadow once a month or so and keeping it in a drawer for a year is fine. But I cannot tell you how often clients come to me telling me they haven't worn makeup since their wedding. "Your wedding was ten years ago? And you STILL HAVE the lipstick?" For the safety and health of your skin please pay attention to these guidelines. Once you've opened a tube of mascara or a lip liner pencil, you're committing to use it before the next millenium rolls around.

These guidelines are not set in stone- they are a mixture of my opinion and a bit of internet research. If in doubt, err on the side of caution.

Concealer: Generally speaking, once it's opened, use it up within 12 months.

Powder: Once it's opened, use it up within 2 years.

Cream & gel cleansers: 1 year.

Pencil eye liner: Should be sharpened regularly. Will last up to 3 years.

Eyeshadow: Will also last up to 3 years. If you're mixing colors, using the same brush or sponge tip applicator in different colors, be careful not to make your colors muddy. Wash your eyeshadow brushes and applicators regularly. (see below)

Brushes: Wash once a month in a mild detergent.

Sponges: Wash weekly and discard monthly

Foundation Check the ingredients: A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months.

Lip liner: Up to 3 years.

Lipstick: Some experts say 1-2 years. Others say up to 4 years. What everyone agrees on is that if it smells rancid, throw it out, it's spoiled. Personally, I do have a color that I don't wear very often (but I do love) which is about 4 years old now. It still smells fine and looks fine so for the next little while I'm not (yet) replacing it. Extra tip: If you store lipstick in the refrigerator, it will last longer. (be careful your family members don't think it's food.....)

Mascara: This product expires the fastest: Throw out after 3 months. Extra tip: If you don't want your mascara to expire faster than its fresh date, don't pump the wand in and out - you're only exposing the product to drying air. Not sure you'll remember to toss your mascara after three months and begin a new one? That's one great reason to have a personal skin care and beauty consultant. A good beauty consultant, if asked, will be happy to call or email you every three months or even do auto ship. For those of my clients who request autoship of mascara every three months, I throw in a free bottle of eye makeup remover when they sign up for autoship. Something good to consider!

A few more things to keep in mind: if the consistency, color or odor of your makeup item has changed at all, throw it out. If it no longer performs the duty for which you purchased it, throw it out! The bathroom is not a good storage place, as it gets exposed to heat and steam. Above all, do not share your makeup with anyone-ever!

Unless you have been blessed with near perfect skin which glows day and night however hot or cold it is, then a good cosmetic foundation is the key. Foundation smooth's out the skins appearance by hiding any unwanted blemish, bumps and lumps and gives your skin an even tone that then acts as a base for the rest of your cosmetic makeup.

A good blusher is the next must have as, whilst the foundation on your face can act as the base, a good blusher will act as the personality in a way, as it gives you face a unique look about it as all blusher looks different depending on your initial skin tone, eye colour and hair colour. The bottom line with blusher is that it can be as subtle or as harsh as you want it to be depending on how you feel and where you are going!

A staple for most women's cosmetic makeup bag is lipstick. If you are a red head and fair skinned, keep your make up as natural looking as possible and use makeup that would highlight your features and give you a healthy glow. Having red hair naturally presents a look of warm skin, but it sometimes makes you look too pink. Use makeup that has more earthy tones or are gold based.

Neutral Foundations

Use foundation bases that are neutral or beige. Avoid using pink tones that will make you look paler or olive tones that can make you look sick. Soft pastels in lilacs, a nice bronze shadow, mid-browns, rich chocolates and champagnes can be used for everyday wear, while greens, plums, and blue shades give a more dramatic look.

Eye Liner

Lipstick

Find a lipstick color that blends well with you skin tone. For your lips, try soft peachy pink, orange reds, peaches, and nudes. Define your lips with a nude lip pencil adding a little stila peach shine gloss. Avoid using hot pinks and bloody reds on your lips. For a polished look, you can try a berry stain on the lips.

When you apply face makeup, you need not match your hair color. Try experimenting with color blends and shades that you feel make you look healthy, vibrant and glowing. Try to play around with tones and colors that can give you a new look that you are comfortable with.

Let me first tell you that applying makeup while driving is not the best thing to do as you can get easily distracted especially if you are on a faced paced highway. But the truth is that a woman needs to once in a while indulge in this activity to step out looking her best. So let us take a quick glance at the safest way of applying makeup while driving without crashing into the car right in front of you.

The first thing that you need to do for this is to keep all the necessary items at hand in a makeup bag on the seat next to you. It is also helpful to stack brushes and applicators together in a pocket of the bag so that you do not have to take your eyes away from the road to find them. It is best to apply the moisturizer, concealer and foundation at home itself as it is quite difficult to apply these with your hands on the steering. Restrict applying makeup while driving to your eyes, cheeks and lips.

It can get a little tricky to apply eye shadow as it requires you to close your eyes for a few seconds; hence it is best done when you stop at a signal or when you are in heavy traffic that you are just inching. Apply a beige eye base and then put on the eye shadow; pause between steps and also give time between each eye so that your concentration still remains on the road and not on your makeup.

I wouldn't really suggest putting on eye liner and mascara while driving as it is quite dangerous; you could do this once you have parked your vehicle. Lips are easy especially if you skip the liner step; dab on the lip color and blend well by rubbing both your lips together and apply balm which often comes in a tube. Applying makeup while driving can get a little tricky but if you take care of the basics, you can cheat time and still step out looking the best.
