They call them mineral make up. They call them pure. They say they have only "good things" in them. Is this true? And how do they compare in price? Let's compare apples to apples. I've listed all the well know brands of mineral cosmetics, compared their ingredients, their cost, and their actual cost per gram. Although each company offers several products such as foundations, blushes, eye shadows, etc, I've chosen the most popular - foundations - as a basis of comparison. I've stacked them against Purely Cosmetics to see how each holds up against the other.

Any ingredient marked in bold contains a non-pure, non-earth mineral. Some even worse: parabens are preservatives that are thought to be linked to breast cancer and early aging of the skin. Bismuth oxychloride is a filler that is a by-product of lead and copper processing and is irritating to the skin.

This is lengthy, but you'll find some real eye openers. Your favorite mineral makeup is most likely listed here, as I've compared Bare Escentuals, Jane Iredale, GLO Minerals, Sheer Cover, Laura Mercier, Youngblood, PUR Minerals, L'Oreal, and Neutragena to Purely Cosmetics.

NOTE ABOUT MICRONIZED PARTICLES: The use of micronized titanium dioxide is controversial. Some research indicates that micro-size particles do stay on the surface of the skin and do not enter the bloodstream, while others question the long-term safety of using nanoparticles. Studies have shown that it is possible for micronized titanium dioxide particles to penetrate cells and eventually lead to DNA damage following sun exposure. Asthmatics and others with repiratory problems should be cautioned about using loose powders with micronized ingredients as they are easily airborne. Micronized particles are liked by some mineral makeup companies because they provide a smooth coverage and adhere easily. The smaller the particle, the more sheer and natural looking the application. On the flip side, micronized particles cannot provide medium to full coverage for those who need to cover life's imperfections.

I went to my CVS recently, and found a vast variety of L'Oreal HIP products. The eyeliners, the creme eye shadows, the regular eye shadows, the lipsticks, the lip glosses, etc. Everything but the HIP jelly balms. They are pretty popular so why weren't they there. I've been to two different CVS's several times but every single time they had everything but the jelly balms. Any ideas why?

i suggest go with a nude color lip gloss because you want the eyes to really pop!. . I think you should go with very neutral eyeshadows like browns and bronzes. . you can buy the kind of eyeshadow like maybeline that tell you what shadow in the quad is for which eye, that might help to achieve the look you desire

You can have no symptoms and still be infected with HSV. Cold sores can be very painful for many people. Mouth soreness, sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and fever are many of the initial signs of HSV. Before a cold sore appears, small children tend to drool. After the development of a cold sore, the blisters will break open, secrete a clear fluid and scab over, disappearing after several days.

These symptoms often include fever, headache, genital pain, genital discharge, and blisters. Even if you have no symptoms, genital herpes can be diagnosed by testing your blood for an antibody to HSV-2. Fever Blisters can form on other parts of your body such as on your fingers. This is quite uncommon, but it does happen. At one time, my mother-in-law had one on her ear. When the coldsores virus becomes active, they travel up the nerve fibers to the surface where they replicate and create those painful coldsores right on the end of the nerves. The Second more prevalent and noticeable stage of a cold sore is small blisters which will appear in the area above the lip. These blisters will have clear liquid inside and shouldn't be popped as they will cause much pain. The first stage of a cold sore consists of tingling in the lip; this generally is a hint as to where a cold sore may soon appear.

Virus is not the cause of a canker sore, but an allergy to a specific bacteria found in the mouth may be the cause, or may simply be an allergic reaction to certain kinds of food. An immune system not working correctly may trigger the sores, but they are not connected to any disease. Some studies have found nutritional deficiencies can cause canker sores, such as vitamin B12, folic acid and iron. Persons with gastrointestinal problems sometimes have reoccurring canker sores, due to their digestive problems.

Use foundation bases that are neutral or beige. Avoid using pink tones that will make you look paler or olive tones that can make you look sick. The second lightest shade of Ivory of the Mary Kay makeup cream to powder line is excellent. For those who prefer not to wear makeup, Clinique Superfit Makeup is able to cover wrinkles, flaws, blotches and gives one of the best coverage. It also has a yellowish-base tone product that can be easily be blended into your skin.

Use Soft Blush makeup

A red head can look dramatic and vibrant if you use a soft blush in a reddish-brown shade. If you have peaches and cream complexion, try using blushes that come in very soft pink, sheer pale pinks or sheer peaches. Kevyn Aucoin powder blushes has a nice collection of peaches and pale pink blushes. You can also dust a little gold on your cheek bones to make you look vibrant.

Eye Shadow for Blue Eyes

I signed up for some type of kit a five years ago on qvc.

every 6 months i get my 2 compacts of my face tone, a mineral veil, and a gift (like a brush/mascara/whatev) That is 60 bucks every time it comes. which is pretty good.

i think the kits are def the way to go.

ps. well rested, faux tan, and the warmth blush are INCREDIBLE products. Been using them every day of the past 5 years.

Why does cream eyeshadow always crease on me?

I wore conealer and powder as a base and by the end of the day, it was practically gone, LOL! Are there any ways to wear cream eyeshadows alone or do I have to put a regular powder eyeshadow on top?

This happens 2 me too, because i have oily lids? lol so i tried applying an eyeshadow Primer as a base for the shadow, and that was the solution LOL you have to apply the primer to your lids to prep them for the eye shadow, it keeps your shadow and eyeliner in place wayyyyyyyy longer than it would if you went without it, trust me lol i recommend trying Urban decay eyeshadow primer potion, its really good hun! btw, use a primer and you won't need to apply any concealer or powder, unless it's something you preffer to do. lolz hope i helped !!

Your make up can make a statement on how you look. You can cover those tired eyes or enhance your charming lips. Choose the right make up style according to the occasion. You can apply a more natural and modest look when going to work and put on those smoky eyes with a little bit of dramatic look for a night out with friends.

Applying eye shadow is an individual process relative to your eye shape. Here are a few basic rules and tips to keep in mind when applying your eye shadow:

Eye shadows with cream-coloured, soft and silky texture are posed in two blows of brushes and are based on the eyelid naturally.

Apply the darkest shade to the outer corners of the eyes from lash line to the crease.

Put the eyeshadow on. A nice rounded shape on the eye takes only a few seconds. Beginning at your lash line moving just slightly past your crease you need to apply either a light shade of eyeshadow or highlighter completely across your eyelid. Also do it all the way up to your eyebrows.

Blend, blend, and then blend some more. I can't stress this enough. Try an experiment. Blend one eye and then just use a brush and apply the other eye. You'll instantly know what I'm talking about and you'll never forget to blend again.

Using a brush that will fit within the confines or your eye lid. brush the medium color across your lid. For the best possible application it's important to keep this color within the realm of your eye lid. Be sure to apply it fully to the lid without going beyond the natural boundaries of your eye.

Shimmer is a lot of fun, but needs to be done right. Most of the time shimmer brings attention to wrinkles and lines in your skin so often times a shimmer shadow is a bad idea. Shimmer is a great tool to use for the brow bone as it gives a classy look.

Draw a line over the entire upper portion of the lash line using a pencil eyeliner or a liquid one. The thickness of the line depends on the shape of your eyes, a thicker one makes a small, squinty eye look more rounded and a thin one is advisable to those with bigger eyes. Finish off with a mascara to add volume and length into your lashes.

Medium - This is applied from just below the eyelid crease to the browbone. You can, and some techniques do, shade the entire lid with this medium shade first.

Highlight - This is the lightest of the three and is applied to the browbone and extends a little past the outer end of the eyebrow. This usually gives a pearly finish.

Finally, if you have a ton of eye shadow on you're going to want to keep the lipstick simple. Conversely, if you want more dramatic lips then it would be wise to keep the eyes relatively color free. That's about it for my simple eyeshadow tips, happy make upping!
