Makeup for a hot pink glittery dress?

ok, so i have a party on saturday, and im going to be wearing a hot pink dress, all glittery. its halter top, and exposes half my back. reaches right below my knees in uneven ends. i dont want anything too bright, or too pink. something with maybe a dark brown....silver....creme colored.
i have very pale skin, brownish/golden hair, brown eyes. and i blush a lot naturally.
so...would dark colors go good?
would red lipstick be too much?
oh, and im 16
Oh, and how should i put the eyeliner? liquid? im not a makeup person, i love putting it on, but i dont use it. eyeliner on the bottom eyelid doenst look that good on me...only the top lid.

Okay Lemme answer the last question first..NO, NO, NO red lipstick!!!
lol, and its not because ur 16 or anything, because Im 16 and wear red lipstick at times:):)
but because u have on pink, red will wash and diminish the whole look ya know?

The Look you should go for::I have brown eyes as well
and pink, and brown together..::FLAWLESS

So what you should do..
is use a base..maybe a foundation or concealer ::your choice::
all over your eye lids, juss so your shadow can last and stay all nite ::)

Second:: U can use a q-tip for this if u don't have any makeup-brushes and it works juss as well..
you take the brush or q-tip and
apply a nice dark brown in your crease.. (how to find your crease..you hold your head back and find the narrow, or"hard bone", socket on top of your eye-lid) then you put the brown there and just sweep it back and forth until u feel its blended well..(if you want the brown to be soft::blending for a while will give u that::if you want the brown to be a lil bit harder..you know because its a party you only will blend for a lil while)

Third:: You wanna take a soft pink (NOT a pale, pink, bright pink,) but a normal pink ya know..
and put that on your eye lid..(basically on the lid that u passed, before u did the brown color)
and spread it across ur lid (pat it on the lid, so it can be noticed, but soft) OH YES! i forgot, line the eyes with a soft khol black liner, and maybe 2-3 coats of mascara! and ur set

Lastly::Optional::Apply a shimmery white eyeshadow underneath your eyebrow

and your donneee hun!

Well Ur lips:::NO RED as i said lol, try a clear lip, (clear lip gloss) or a soft pink lip gloss/lipstick.

and u blush natrually so thats good!

for a type of skin glow, you can use a powder that matches your skin, and or foundation, or tinted moisturizer..a little bronzer, and IF IF IF you WANT to add glitter, apply it on ur cheeks, (juss a little) for a nice glow as well..

What charmed said is absolutely right. You're an autumn and should be wearing colors in the fall pallet. I would recommend a long-lasting lipstick, like MAC, Clinique, or Mary Kay. Look for colors with names like: Raisin, Cocoa, Cappuccino, Peach, Spice, Pumpkin, Bronze, etc. These are all yellow-undertoned warm colors that will bring out the richness of your dark eyes and complement your lovely red locks. I would actually steer clear of Coral, because this is an orangey-pink color; it's really meant for Spring pallets and would probably be too light for you. If you're concerned with your lip color being too dark, you can always mix colors and lighten it up with a golden frosty gloss. They also have lip colors that are sheer...kind of like a gloss, only not as shiny. You get the pigment without the saturation of a regular lipstick.

I would recommend going to a department store's make-up counter, telling them you'd like to see lip colors in the above shades (or whatever their colors are called). Try on different shades. And MIX colors! You will be surprised at the gorgeous colors you can custom create for your own lips. I personally use at least 3 different colors at once. It's a little more expensive that way, but OH SO worth it when you get the perfect color for your face.

By the way, just because you have pale skin doesn't mean you can't wear dark shades of lipstick. I have a friend with your exact coloring and she wore a rather fetching (dark) shade of raisin on her wedding day. She was stunning!

If you are a red head and fair skinned, keep your make up as natural looking as possible and use makeup that would highlight your features and give you a healthy glow. Having red hair naturally presents a look of warm skin, but it sometimes makes you look too pink. Use makeup that has more earthy tones or are gold based.

Neutral Foundations

Use foundation bases that are neutral or beige. Avoid using pink tones that will make you look paler or olive tones that can make you look sick. The second lightest shade of Ivory of the Mary Kay makeup cream to powder line is excellent. For those who prefer not to wear makeup, Clinique Superfit Makeup is able to cover wrinkles, flaws, blotches and gives one of the best coverage. It also has a yellowish-base tone product that can be easily be blended into your skin.

Use Soft Blush makeup

A red head can look dramatic and vibrant if you use a soft blush in a reddish-brown shade. If you have peaches and cream complexion, try using blushes that come in very soft pink, sheer pale pinks or sheer peaches. Kevyn Aucoin powder blushes has a nice collection of peaches and pale pink blushes. You can also dust a little gold on your cheek bones to make you look vibrant.

Eye Shadow for Blue Eyes

Keep your blue eyes glowing with neutral brownish colors that can contrast your pale skin. Neutral eye shadow shades look casual but polished. Soft pastels in lilacs, a nice bronze shadow, mid-browns, rich chocolates and champagnes can be used for everyday wear, while greens, plums, and blue shades give a more dramatic look.

Eye Liner

You can put a shimmery bronze or copper eye liner like those of Merle Norman Goldspice or Urban Decay Baked liner to make your eyes light up. Also try the Almay eye shadow Intense I-Color. Their color collections for liners, eye shadows, and mascara can enhance your eye color. The Glimmers collection of Bare Escentuals has a good selection.

Mascara

Use dark brown or red brown colored mascara and avoid using black. Brown enhances the blue color of your eyes and gives your mascara a softer look in contrast to your red hair. If you are strawberry blonde, use light brown shades.

Bronzer makeup

If needed, use a bronzer or concealer under your eyes. One of the best is Physician's Formula's Ice Green concealer blended with a darker concealer shade.

Lipstick

Find a lipstick color that blends well with you skin tone. For your lips, try soft peachy pink, orange reds, peaches, and nudes. Define your lips with a nude lip pencil adding a little stila peach shine gloss. Avoid using hot pinks and bloody reds on your lips. For a polished look, you can try a berry stain on the lips.

When you apply face makeup, you need not match your hair color. Try experimenting with color blends and shades that you feel make you look healthy, vibrant and glowing. Try to play around with tones and colors that can give you a new look that you are comfortable with.

If you have acne-prone skin, or your skin is often itchy and red, avoiding common ingredients in many skincare products and makeup may be the easiest way to calm irritated and blemished skin.

The first thing to remember about skincare products is that you get what you pay for. Cheap ingredients, while more easily obtained, are often harsh and pore-clogging. Secondly, ingredients are listed on product labels in order of quantity, so if you cannot avoid products containing bad ingredients, try to find products that list such ingredients near the end. Third, if you are purchasing products from behind a counter at the mall or from an online store, ask to see the ingredients - you may be surprised at what you find.

Although there are many ingredients you should avoid in skincare products and makeup, here are some of the worst offenders:

Octyl Stearate

This chemical is used in moisturizers, sunscreens, tanning oils, and eye creams, among others. It is both an irritant and comedogenic, meaning it clogs pores. Although proper moisturization is a must for healthy skin, avoid products containing octyl stearate. If you have ever noticed pimples in the delicate skin around your eye, consider switching your eye cream. Finally, while the dangers of tanning have been stressed due to the potential for skin cancer, harsh ingredients in tanning products is another reason to learn to love your pale skin. Products containing octyle stearate include Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Foundation, Almay Kinetin Eye Treatment, and Cellex-C Sun Care.

Algae Extract

While this ingredient sounds "natural," that doesn't mean your skin will be receptive to its irritatant and comedogenic properties. Algae Extract, also listed as seaweed extract or gelidiela acerosa extract, can be found in many products such as Clairol Hydrience Haircolor, Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Eye Cream, Origins A Perfect World Eye Cream, and Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion, among many others. Two other algae-derived products, algin (or sodium alginate) and carrageenan, are also used to stabilize or emulsify skin and hair products such as facial cleansers, moisturizers, and exfoliants, shampoos and conditioners, and shaving cream. Fortunately, algin is easy to avoid; carrageenan is more prevalent.

Laureth-4

This coconut-derived surfactant, dispersant, and emulsifier (meaning it evenly suspends one liquid throughout another, rather than allowing it to settle) is an extremely common ingredient in all kinds of skincare products that can be difficult to avoid. Some Aveeno bath products and body scrubs contain Laureth-4, and it can also be found in Gillette shaving gels and even some acne treatments. It is worth your while to search out products free of this comedogenic and irritating alcohol.

Sodium Chloride

Otherwise known as salt - yes, the kind used to flavor food - sodium chloride is a pore-clogging chemical found in products too numerous to mention. Just because you can safely eat it doesn't mean you should put it on your skin! Aveeno- Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser is a good bet if you want to avoid sodium chloride and most other harsh ingredients, such as those listed in this article.

Isopropyl Myristate

Primarily comedogenic, isopropyl myrstate may also be somewhat irritating to sensitive skin. It is derived from both plant and animal fatty acids and helps the skin absorb the skincare product. Isopropyl myristate is a common ingredient found in body lotions, like Neutrogena Light Sesame Formula, tanning lotions by Banana Boat, and foundations by Estee Lauder and Cover Girl.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate

This chemical is a detergent used in many hair and skin products. It helps the product to lather. Until recently, sodium lauryl sulfate was nearly impossible to avoid, but because of industry safety concerns and a little bad press, it is much less difficult to find alternative products. If you must use a product with sodium lauryl sulfate, make sure you rinse your skin and hair thoroughly. Never leave a product with this ingredient on your skin. Also avoid sodium laureth sulfate.

There are numerous other ingredients to avoid, if possible. Acne-causing ingredients include: hexadecyl alcohol, oleth-3, and wheat germ oil. Irritants include: acetone, isopropyl alcohol, and colloidal sulfur. Mineral oil (petrolatum) may dry out skin in the long run, as will propylene glycol.

Even if a chemical has been approved as "safe" for skincare, it is important to remember that it may not be ideal for individuals with sensitive and/or acne-prone skin. Although "natural" ingredients (like the algae ingredients listed above) are touted as better for your skin, you should still be discerning about which products you use. With care - and, perhaps, the sacrifice of a few more dollars - you can prevent many of the problems these products are intended to solve.

bare minerals foundation?

i use bare escentuals minerals foundation fairly light, I normally have very pale skin with red imperfections. With bare minerals on it looks really bad, like my nose is all shiny and looks much bigger than without makeup (and it's big anyway so i hate that), my cheeks and forehead look like i have sugar icing on them. How come?

Bare minerals has bismuth oxychloride-this ingredient is in a lot of mineral foundations and it's what causes shine. It can also cause irritation too. I stopped using bare minerals and now I wear signature minerals. You can only get it online, but for me it's worth it because it looks nice all day and doesn't get shiny unless it's really humid or I'm sweating a lot or something like that. Whatever you decide, just try to find a mineral foundation with a short ingredient list and DOES NOT contain bismuth oxychloride. Good luck!

Does anyone know good foundation for fair skin?

So I have extremeley pale skin and ive tried tons of foundation and they are all too dark. Does anyone know a good foundation for really pale skin.

I have extremely pale skin too. I have tried many foundations and powders.
I would recommend all of Clinique range, as they are all very bendable, soft and give you an even coverage. They come in a range of colours and many light shades that would suit all pale skin tones.
My favorite clinique product is almost powder spf 15.

Women were smart enough to leave poodle perms and shoulder pads behind 20 or so years ago. These days it's also smart to let go of the sun-protection advice we were given then.

Dermatologists say environmental damage during the past two decades has made it necessary for us to increase the kind of SPF we use. Twenty years ago, an SPF of five would have probably shielded us sufficiently from the sun but today we generally need six times that number to get the same protection. The reason for this SPF inflation is the depletion of the ozone layer over the last 20 years. There's now less of a barrier between us and the sun, making it easier for harmful rays to damage our skin.

Summer Sums

The numbers on sunscreen packages range from SPF2 to SPF60 - sometimes more. They refer to a product's ability to screen out the sun's burning rays. This ability is calculated by comparing the amount of time it takes for unprotected skin to get burnt with the amount of time it takes for protected skin to get burnt.

To calculate the protection, multiply the time it takes for your skin to go red without sun block by the SPF number. For example, if it takes 10 minutes for your skin to turn red in the sun if you're not wearing sunscreen, it will take about 150 minutes for your skin to turn red if you are wearing an SPF of 15.

The higher the SPF of a sunscreen, the more protection it affords and, therefore, the longer you can stay outdoors without damaging skin.

What's your Number?

All skin - even dark skin - needs protection if you're going to be outdoors for 20 minutes or more during the day. The only variable is how much.

We generally recommend the use of SPF30 or higher. We used to recommend SPF15 but, with the depletion of the ozone layer, we seldom advise anything less than 30. Those with very fair or sensitive skin will need a higher SPF while those with dark skin can get away with less. People with dark skin have an in-built SPF of about seven and hence have more protection from the sun than those with very pale skin. Also bear in mind, that certain medication can make skin more sensitive to the sun. If you're not sure which SPF you should choose for your skin, ask a dermatologist.

Doubling Up

Sunscreens are not the only products with SPFs - various cosmetics also contain them. Most moisturizers and some foundations, lipsticks and glosses have an SPF of 15 while some moisturizers have an SPF of 30.

This doesn't give you license to toss your sunscreen, however - it's always best to coat dry skin thoroughly with sunscreen before following up with makeup or moisturizer at least 15 minutes before going outdoors.

Remember that lips also get sunburn, so apply a lip balm with an SPF of 15 or higher. Remember, too, that applying sunscreen once may not be enough. If you're outdoors you should reapply sunscreen every two hours - more often if you've been in the water.

Road Blocks

Although the harmful UVB rays - most commonly associated with sunburn, premature ageing and skin cancer - are blocked by window glass, you're still at risk of sun damage while driving a car, because glass does not keep out the UVA rays.

When you're in the car, your face, arms and hands are exposed to sunlight. The UVA rays penetrate the windows because they have a longer wavelength than UVB rays. They also penetrate deeper into skin. This means that, although UVA rays don't result in sunburn, the danger of premature ageing and skin cancer remains.

So make sure you look for broad-spectrum sunscreens - they will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays.

The emo 'look' is dark eyes, pale skin with dark nails, eyes and lips and goes beyond clothing and make up as it is a lifestyle. It is mistakenly seen by some as a Goth look, however in reality is not as 'dark' as Goth and has more color with a specific lifestyle, music and outlook towards life.

If you want to take it up seriously then look into it a bit closer. Acting as if you are an exponent of the emo culture will result in you being ostracized by people, both other cultures and emo - you must live it as your natural self and not emulate some other person.

Emo make up is quite fundamental, hair being one facet. A number of styles create the emo look, not only short, butch hair styles. Hair can be dyed black and may be layered, colored in streaks or straight. Black and pink dyed hair is in style (without curls and your choice of cut or length) with barrettes placed at random or making use of bangs.

A clean face is the beginning point for emo make up. A gentle cleanser should be used and toners must be applied after make up is removed in the evening. A thick emo foundation is necessary and can be traditional if your skin tone is fairly even. Essentially the emo look involves an even skin tone with a pale, single color (no marks or blotches visible). A hard edge look may not be so radical if you have pimples.

Eyes form the focal point in emo make up, involving numerous application methods - trial and error will determine your preference. For the nails, a number of colors are suitable - dark red, dark purple, black or white stripes on black while lips require dark lipsticks like dark purple and dark red. Application of emo make up is uncomplicated yet achieves an incredible look.

It's what I use and it's the only foundation which is pale enough for my skin tone. Also, because it's a cream and not a powder, it's less likely to dry out your skin, and you'll be able to get a more even finish, which will help to hide any dry areas.

If you have dry skin though, your best option is to use a moisturiser before you apply any make up. One your moisturiser has soaked in, try using a face primer. This will again help to keep your skin more moisturised, and will prevent it from drying out during the day.
